The well adorned tree of my dreams
Was rooted in my homeland’s earth,
Its unrestrained leaves danced
So free and happy on the rhythm of my heart.

With all the words of anger that I spoke,
Or with the wrong I ever did to others,
Then every time a leaf got scared,
Let go in shame and flew off with a flutter.

And so the leaves flew one by one
Far from their loving place of birth,
On cold world winds, away from me
And finally lost their beauty and bright mirth.

With that I lost myself more and more,
But then my beloved leaves returned,
Heal me with their softly soothing song
From my untroubled youth for which I yearned…

Flying leaves, flying leaves,
Flying leaves, I know,
That I was estranged from the candour
And no longer had an eye for splendour.

Flying leaves, please stay in my heart,
There the sun is shining, like it did once,
Your song lets me awaken, sets me free,
Go all the way to my roots, just follow me…

The years slipped through my fingers,
I travelled the world and looked for what I didn’t know,
I learned a lot, but knew less and less,
The more I saw, the more I allowed myself to let go.

All the love from my childhood days,
That I had and squandered in my negligence,
I bring them together and collect them
With their original colours and magnificence…

Flying leaves, flying leaves,
Flying leaves, I know,
That I was estranged from the candour,
And no longer had an eye for splendour.

Flying leaves, please stay in my heart,
There the sun is shining, like it did once,
Your song awakens me and for all eternity
Lets me go back to the motherland to be free.
